The Lebara France SIM card offers very cheap call and data rates when travelling in France.

The Lebara France SIM card:

Please note: This SIM card can only be activated after arriving in France. However activation is easy (instructions in English come with the SIM card) and can be done either online or over the phone. You will know your French mobile number prior to arriving in France so there is no need to activate prior to travelling, however you won't be able to make or receive any calls using the SIM card until you arrive in France.

You can use your call and data allowance from this bundle when travelling in the European Union plus Iceland and Norway.

There are occasionally special offers for other call/data bundles with a larger data allowance, however these generally have a less generous call allowance.

We generally recommend that you combine the All In One 200 minute bundle with another data bundle to get a larger data allowance.

Roaming in Europe

You are able to use your inclusive call and data allowance when travelling in the European Union, Iceland, Norway and some external French territories. The free roaming zone includes the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Martinique, Mayotte, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion, Romania, Saint-Martin, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.

Roaming is only discounted in the above countries and is considerably more expensive in other countries. It is important to note that Andorra, the Channel Islands and Switzerland (as well as East European countries that are not part of the European Union) are not covered by these cheap roaming rates. For instance if you were to access data when visiting Switzerland you would pay the standard data roaming rate of €15/MB (which is €15,360/GB).

It is important to note the following terms and conditions regarding European roaming with the Lebara France SIM card:

• Your first use of this service must occur in France
• Mobile data roaming is limited to 3.5GB during the validity period of your data bundle. This means that if you have a data bundle with more than 3.5GB data, you are only able to use a maximum of 3.5GB of this data allowance when travelling outside France.
• You are able to make calls to any country that is included in your call/data package, but calls to other countries are not included and are considerably more expensive (€2.99/minute to call Australia when roaming in Europe). If you have not added a call/data package (such as the All In One 200 minute bundle) then you won't have any inclusive calls to use in Europe and may be charged much higher roaming rates.
• This offer is not for permanent use outside France. If more than 50% of your use over a four-month period takes place outside France, then the following excess call and data charges will apply: €0.038/minute calls, €0.012/SMS text messages et €0.009/MB (€9.22/GB) data access.

Basically what this means is that if France is the first country you are visiting in Europe, then it is a great deal if you buy the Lebara France SIM and add one of the larger call and data packages as you will be able to use the included value of your call/data bundle when travelling in most other European countries. Just don't use it in Switzerland.

How long does the Lebara France SIM card remain active

The Lebara France SIM card is valid for 80 days from the last date that you make your last chargable call or text message. You can keep your Lebara France SIM card active by making a call or sending a text message at least once every 80 days. If you go longer than 80 days without making a call or sending a text message, your SIM card will become inactive and you will need to purchase a new SIM card.
