The China Unicom Greater China prepaid SIM card gives you data in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.

This SIM card is ready to use upon arrival in China. Simply insert into your mobile device when you arrive.

Includes 1GB data for use within 30 days.

The SIM card comes with 1GB of data for use within 30 days. You can use tethering (personal hotspot), VOIP services (such as Facetime, Skype or Viber), and even Facebook is available with this SIM card (unlike most Chinese SIM cards).

You cannot use this as a voice SIM, but can make calls and SMS using data - eg over Facetime, Skype, Rebtel, Viber etc.

Includes coverage across Mainland China as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan

With this SIM card there is no need to buy separate SIM cards for Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China and it will even work in Taiwan.

This service is provided by China Unicom Hong Kong for the Hong Kong market, which means that data services available to Hong Kong residents travelling in mainland China are also available to you. This generally means that access to social media sites such as Facebook available to you whereas access to these sites would be blocked if using a data SIM purchased in mainland China.

Easy to activate

Activating your China Unicom Greater China SIM card is easy. Simply insert the SIM card in your device in China or Hong Kong and your SIM is active. Please note that you must be within the coverage area of China Unicom's network in China or the Three network in Hong Kong when you first start using this SIM. If you are going to use this SIM card in Macau or Taiwan, it will only work for you if you visit China or Hong Kong first.

Topping up data

If you would like to use the SIM for more than 30 days, or require more data, simply topup with further credit. HKD$150 (about AU$25) will give you 1GB for your next 30 days.

If you have not topped within 60 days of your original activation date (30 days from the end of your first month) your SIM card will expire. There are instructions in the pack for topping up, you can use Paypal or credit cards (MasterCard, Visa or UnionPay).

This service is provided by China Unicom Hong Kong for the Hong Kong market, which means that credit top ups are priced in Hong Kong dollars. This also means that the online top up system is available in English and will accept MasterCard, Visa card and PayPal for payment. Many data SIM cards purchased in mainland China will only accept payment by China UnionPay credit cards.
