Three important points:

1. This isn’t a prepaid service and you will charged each month for your data service. There are no contracts on the Flexi 4G Australian data plan and if you are on this plan you can cancel your service at any time (you won’t be charged for your next month as long as you cancel at least 48 hours before the end of your current billing period).
2. Your service is charged per month. Your first month may be charged pro rata if you don't activate your service at the start of Globalgig's billing cycle and the full monthly fee (plus any excess data charges) will apply for each subsequent month).
3. This SIM card is only available to Australian residents. You must use a billing address in Australia when activating your service.

Choose the best plan to suit you

Globalgig can be set up on six different rate plans, and the best option for you will depend on whether you need at lot of data for use at home in Australia, whether it is just as a backup or for occasional use or if you are a frequent traveller who needs regular data access in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United States of America.

4G Flexi plans

Starting at under $5 per month, Globalgig's 4G Flexi plans are ideal for use in Australia and occasional use abroad. The cheaper of these tariffs is ideal if you need to keep your service active between trips or if you're only need occassional data access while Globalgig's higher plans offer a larger data allowance for use at home in Australia. All Globalgig's 4G Flexi rate plans offer simple pay as you go global data roaming at either 10c or 25c/MB depending on which country you are visiting.

These plans are best for use in Australia, although data roaming rates are reasonable for short trips abroad. With these plans you get an allowance of data access on the Optus 4G and 3G networks in Australia plus pay per MB rates in over 100 countries.

Traveller Plus plans

Globalgig's Traveller Plus plans are ideal if you make frequent trips to Europe, New Zealand and the United States of America. With this plan you have a bundle of either 1GB or 3GB that you can use in any of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America. Excess data use (after you used used your first one or three GB) and data access in other countries is charged at 25c/MB. Excess data use in Australia is charged at 2c/MB.

The above plans have a one month minimum contract and will renew for another month if you do not cancel your service. You will be charged in advance the monthly fee for your chosen plan and any excess data charges will be added to the following month's bill.

Using your Globalgig data SIM card outside Australia

All Globalgig data plans allow you to use your SIM while travelling outside Australia at simple affordable pay as you go rates. Use in zone 1 countries (basically most of western Europe plus New Zealand and the USA) is only 10c/MB if you are on a Flexi 4G plan or is included as part of your data allowance if you are on a Traveller Plus plan. Use in zone 2 countries (the rest of the world) is priced at 25c/MB.

Data access is only 10c/MB in the following (zone 1) countries:

Coverage and data speed will depend on the capabilities of your device. Data is at 4G speed in Australia and the UK and 3G speed in other countries.

The 4G Flexi plan is cheaper than most Australian data plans, but with the added advantage of being able to switch to cheap roaming plans whenever you travel abroad

If you have a prepaid or a month-to-month postpaid data plan for your iPad with Optus, Telstra or Vodafone you'll most likely pay less if you switch to Globalgig for data access when at home in Australia. That's not to mention the massive data roaming costs that can cost as much as $20 per MB with some networks. In contrast, using the Globalgig SIM card at home will only cost $10 for 1 GB of data and you're free to switch plans to take advantage of international data packages whenever you travel abroad.

Works with most smartphones

This SIM card works with most phones for data service (phone calls and text messages are not supported). All you need is a smartphone that allows you to change the APN setting. Although you can't make conventional phone calls, with a data-only Globalgig SIM card in your phone you can take advantage of apps such as Skype or Viber to make phone calls through an app and use apps like Telegram or Whats App to send messages. Facetime and iMessage will work over your data connection allowing you to communicate with other Apple devices.

Use your phone or tablet as a personal hotspot

Unlike some sim cards, you are able to use your Globalgig data sim to create a personal hotspot from your phone or tablet so you can share your data connection with other Wi-Fi enabled devices including computers, tablets, iPod Touches and Kindles.
