Call charges

Call rates in Indonesia vary from 35 Rp/minute to 2250 Rp/minute. The price will vary depending on where you are, where the person you are calling is, the network of the person you are calling, the time of the day and the length of your call. To confuse matters more, the call charges vary during your call (for instance the sixth minute of your call will be charged at a different rate to the second minute of your call). In short it is a very confusing pricing structure, but most local calls shouldn't cost more than a couple of cents per minute and the most you can expect to pay is 2250 Rp (around 22c) per minute.

All incoming calls are free

International calls

Indosat has cheap international calls using the 007 or 01017 international access code (a more expensive tariff applies to calls made using the + prefix).

To make international calls you need to use 007 or 01017 as your international access code. For example, if you want to call us in Australia on 03 9988 0686, you will need to dial 01017 61 3 9988 0686 (that's the international access code 01016, then the Australian country code 61, the Victoria area code 3 - drop the zero at the start of the area code or mobile number – and the number 9988 0686).

International text messages

International SMS text messages cost 600 Rp (around 6c) per message. However international text messages can be unreliable at the best of times and we recommend using an app such as Telegram or Whats App for all international text messages.

Internet access

The simPATI SIM card is an excellent option for data access on your phone. For the best rates you will need to add a data package after activating your SIM card in Indonesia. The cost of data access varies depending on where you are in Indonesia.
