500W-2000W Portable Power: Power Up Your Camping & Travel Needs

Portable power stations are large-capacity lithium battery units that can power appliances, charge devices, and run equipment off-grid. Unlike power banks (which charge phones and small devices), power stations in the 500W–2000W range can run laptops, CPAP machines, portable fridges, power tools, and small appliances — making them useful for camping, caravanning, road trips, and home backup during outages.

Travel Gear ships from our Charlestown NSW warehouse with fast delivery across Australia.

Choosing a Portable Power Station

  • Wattage (output): The wattage rating determines what you can run. 500W handles laptops, phones, and small appliances; 1000W+ handles portable fridges and power tools; 2000W handles most household appliances
  • Capacity (Wh): Watt-hours determine how long the station will run. Divide the appliance wattage into the station's Wh rating to estimate runtime — a 1000Wh station running a 100W device lasts approximately 10 hours
  • Recharging: Most units recharge via mains power, 12V car outlet, or solar panels. Solar recharging is useful for extended off-grid use. See our solar power range for compatible panels
  • Weight: 500W units typically weigh 5–8kg; 2000W units 15–22kg. Consider portability if you're carrying the unit to a campsite

Airline Restrictions

Portable power stations are not permitted on commercial flights in carry-on or checked baggage due to their large lithium battery capacity. They are suitable for road trips, camping, and caravanning only.
